RELEASE: Missouri Congressmen Set to Put Billionaires Over Working People

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – As outlined in Trump’s Project 2025, the proposed budget Congress is expected to vote on Tuesday will take even more money from Missouri’s hard-working middle class to line the pockets of the very richest.

Working Missourians will be stuck with the $2 trillion+ price tag, handing billionaires even more tax breaks while forced into paying higher prices for healthcare, education, food and more.

After months of broken campaign promises of lower prices on Day 1, Missouri’s Congressmen Wagner (R-02), Onder (R-03), Alford (R-04), Graves (R-06), Burlison (R-07), and Smith (R-08) are all supporting this cruel budget proposal that would raise costs for 98% of Missourians

“It’s clear that the wealthy and corporations will be the only beneficiaries of this harmful proposal,” said Claire Cook-Callen, Executive Director of Progress MO. “Voters elected and sent our representatives to Washington to represent Missouri, not unelected MAGA billionaires in a pathetic attempt to beg for campaign money. If Missouri’s elected officials won’t support hardworking Missourians and invest in the programs that build the middle class, they don’t support a strong economy for our state.”

Below is a district-by-district breakdown of how the proposal would affect essential services in Missouri, according to the data from Census Bureau American Community Survey, 2023:
