Missouri’s Republican Congressional Delegation Silent About President’s Racism

Claire Cook-Callen, Executive Director at Progress MO released the following statement following the President’s sharing of blatant racist rhetoric and imagery.

“The President has crossed a line with his outward racism. In the midst of Black History Month, he reposted a video which included an AI-generated video of Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.

“Of Missouri’s Congressmen, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver first issued a statement, saying:

Every day, the President of the United States calls on Americans to join him in being the worst versions of themselves. I hope that every elected official and American will refuse, and join me in condemning this vile, racist post. We must be better than this.

“The rest of Missouri’s congressional delegation remains silent. Our Republican congressmen continue to align themselves with the president, either in agreement or unacceptable cowardice. Missouri politicians are more concerned with protecting their careers than advocating for accountability and the needs of their constituents.

“If the president is hoping his racism overshadows his involvement with pedophiles, we hope our congressmen hold him accountable for both.”
