Release: Progress MO Welcomes Abbey Schoenrade as Communications Director

Progress MO is pleased to welcome Abbey Schoenrade as its new communications director, where she will lead the organization’s communications and storytelling strategies to amplify progressive voices and make political discourse more accessible throughout Missouri.

Schoenrade brings a wealth of experience in strategic communications, advocacy and political engagement. Her background includes developing strategic messaging and strengthening public and media relations, most recently at Stinson LLP, and driving grassroots efforts as field coordinator for Maggie Nurrenbern’s successful state senate campaign in 2024. Schoenrade’s leadership on the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce genKC advisory board and involvement with LeadMO further demonstrates her commitment to advocacy and community engagement, making her a perfect fit to amplify progressive voices at Progress MO.

“Abbey is a dynamic and skilled communicator. She brings a unique perspective, combining experience, passion and strategic thinking to Progress MO,” Progress MO Executive Director Claire Cook-Callen said. “We are excited to have her join us to help shape the conversation, empower communities where families and working people can thrive, and drive progress as we work to move Missouri forward.”

As communications director, Schoenrade will craft and implement strategies that resonate with Missouri’s diverse communities. This includes expanding Progress MO’s reach in rural and suburban areas, while increasing public understanding of progressive policies. To achieve this, Schoenrade will lead messaging initiatives, strengthen media relations and leverage digital platforms to engage and mobilize Missourians across the state.

“I am honored to join the Progress MO team and eager to contribute to helping Missourians better understand the impact of local, state and national policies on their daily lives,” Schoenrade said. “I’m excited to be in a space that actively advocates for progress and fosters trust in our progressive ecosystem.”
